Recently my work has been revolved around man and the relationship with his machine. More specifically, my work involves an examination of how we co-exist, rely, and evolve around the things that we create. For instance an object solely created to serve to protect man from himself in a sense presents a different perspective towards an object built with intention. Our lust for contingency through mechanization has translated man into a process, a process inspired from his own image devoid of chance. The machine is idolized, heavily relied on, and has evolved much like man: from primitive to cognitive.
The human element, translated in it's simplicity is a tool I often use within my work as well. Throughout the evolution of mechanical interpretation I feel there have been certain aesthetics engineered from the anatomy that the machine is made to mimic. Exhaust pipes and foundry tubes can then become an homage to human intestines. I like creating these subtle associations through the use of either color or direct interpretation, which gives my work an element of personification.
